— An agreement to explore the possible construction of nuclear power plants in the country was among the business deals signed during President Rodrigo Duterte's trip to Russia, Malacañang confirmed Saturday.

These cover a wide range of areas, including an"intention to jointly explore the prospects of cooperation in the construction of nuclear power plants," Panelo said in a statement. The country's first and only nuclear power station, the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant, never became operational due to issues of corruption and safety, compounded by the fear following the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. The mothballed project was revisited in 2018 as the Philippines' looked for other sources to meet the growing demand for power.

Sa Davao itayo ang nuclear plant.....Chernobyl 2.0!

I don’t trust the Philippines to have the skill to maintain a nuclear power plant so as to avoid accidents. I truly don’t considering our lack of absolutely everything.

Cause they're very successful with their plants.. like the one in Chernobyl😂 PRD will be the death of all Filipinos.😂

No way.

HAHAH!!! Let's build nuke plant's in a country that cant even keep the power on! In a country where deals will be made so that nuke waste is dumped in the ocean. SAY NO TO NUCLEAR POWER!!! SAY NO TO THE PHILIPPINES!!!

If you've watch Bill Gates on Netflix, he has this nucl. Power plant that sounds good and needs a test country. No need to use our own money (or less).

Pls DO. Going nuclear means clean and cheap power.

One word: Chernobyl.

At balak pasabugin ang Pilipinas!!

Gumagawa ng mga pabaon after the Chinese mga Russo naman.

Y not?! But first our level of education must be on par w/japan and Discipline similar to china.. Filipinos lack the discipline atm, we have a yolo mentality 'bahala na si batman' must be eliminated 😊

An agreement with Russia for a nuclear plant: what could go possibly wrong? 🤔 Tchernobyl

sana sa DAVAO itayo ang nuclear plant

NO way! Please dont make the philippines another Chernobyl.
