The Philippines recorded 2,934 new COVID-19 cases from January 9 to January 15, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday.

Data from the latest bulletin showed that the number of cases recorded during the said period is lower than theThis week marks the 11th week of less than 10,000 weekly new cases and the third week of less than 5,000 new cases. This is also the fourth straight week where the country logged less than 1,000 daily new cases.Meanwhile, the DOH said that 116 deaths were verified during the past week. Of this, 14 occurred from January 2 to January 15.

According to the DOH, 37 of the deaths occurred in December 2022, six in November 2022, three in October 2022, 13 in September 2022, 17 in August 2022, two in February 2022, three in January 2022, and 20 deaths in 2021 and 2020. Data also showed that a total of 73.8 million individuals have been fully vaccinated against the illness while 21.2 million have received booster shots or additional doses.

The DOH said there were 567 severe and critical cases admitted in hospitals due to COVID-19 as of January 15. This was 11.1% of the total COVID-19 admissions. Of the 2,340 intensive care unit beds, 402, or 17.2% were occupied. Meanwhile, 3,917, or 20% of the 19,607 non-ICU COVID-19 beds were in use.
