The Philippines on Thursday registered a marked decrease in the number of daily coronavirus disease (COVID-19) tally in almost two years since the declaration of a pandemic with 134 new infections.

The country's active case count also dropped to 16,771, according to the Department of Health ’s latest data posted on its website.

The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,072, followed by Region 4-A with 429 and Region 3 with 301.The DOH reported that 21,761 individuals were tested, while 309 testing laboratories submitted data as of Wednesday.
