THE Philippines received on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, 100,000 doses of the Hayat-Vax vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 that were donated by the United Arab Emirates government.
Just hours before its arrival, the Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization for Hayat-Vax, according to National Task Force Against Covid-19 assistant secretary Wilben Mayor. Hayat-Vax is the inactivated vaccine developed by Sinopharm and manufactured in the UAE by Sinopharm and a company called G42.Mayor expressed gratitude to the UAE government. He said the donation will be a big help in ramping up vaccinations.
The Hayat-Vax vaccines will be deployed in areas experiencing an increase in Covid-19 cases, Mayor said.
