The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. appealed for due process for their eight officials who were suspended by the Office of the Ombudsman amid the ongoing investigation on the agency’s Interim Reimbursement Mechanism program.PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Dante Gierran said that the agency “maintains the constitutional rights of its officers and personnel on its presumption of innocence until proven otherwise.
“We trust that the Honorable Office of the Ombudsman will accordingly observe objectivity, justice, and fairness, and allow our concerned officers and personnel the due process to properly explain and defend themselves,” said Gierran in a statement. Ombudsman Samuel Martires issued a six-month suspension order against the eight officials of PhilHealth last Wednesday –PhilHealth Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Arnel de Jesus, COO for Fund Management Sector Renato Limsiaco, Senior Vice President Dr. Israel Paragas, Vice President Gregorio Rulloda, Imelda Trinidad de Vera-Pe, Lolita Tuliao, Gemma Sibucao, and Lailani Padua.
The suspension order is in connection to the alleged administrative offenses concerning the release of PhilHealth funds worth P2 billion to different healthcare facilities through the IRM scheme. The State health insurer assured that they will abide by the Ombudsman’s order. “We shall abide and implement the suspension orders accordingly,” said Gierran.
