The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. said 98 percent of the total P15 billion it disbursed to health care institutions under the Interim Reimbursement Mechanism program had been liquidated to P14.7 billion.
The PhilHealth said it used the P15 billion to help hospitals and other HCIs during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ninety-four of the facilities have liquidated at least 50 percent of the funds they received, while only 20 facilities have liquidated below 50 percent of the funds they received.Meanwhile, the state health insurer clarified that services rendered to patients in hospital tents should be covered by the current PhilHealth in-patient Covid-19 package.
“PhilHealth fully acknowledges the current situation where patients are temporarily placed in tents because hospitals can no longer admit them in regular hospital beds,” PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Dante Gierran said in a statement.
