PH to reach 10 million COVID-19 test target by 1st quarter of 2021 - Dizon

Based on Dizon’s presentation during the Palace press briefing, the country has conducted a total of 9,493,580 tests for coronavirus disease nationwide, as of March 17.

The testing czar said the government was able to do this as the number of COVID-19 tests conducted daily have improved, from 3,000 tests per day in April 2020 to 50,294 tests daily, as of this month. Aside from increased testing, Dizon reported that the number of laboratories in the country capable of processing the collected samples has increased from one laboratory in February 2020 to 229 laboratories nationwide, as of March 19.

“Kaya ngayon, ang turn-around time natin ay napakabilis na. Ngayon po, minsan wala pang isang araw o minsan nga wala pang 12 oras ay lumalabas na [yung resulta] ,” he said.
