The Philippines bowed to China, 1-6, in the bronze medal game for a fourth place finish at the Under-18 Women's Softball World Cup Championship that ended last weekend at the Pingtan Softball Stadium in Fujian Province, China.

The loss meant that the Cebuana Lhuillier-backed team missed out on the three available slots for the U-18 Women's Softball World Cup scheduled in 2024.Still, Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines president Jean Henri Lhuillier is not disheartened with the missed opportunity, saying this young team has gained valuable experience in the tournament.'Our team gave it their all.

'We're beyond excited to see them all grow and achieve even greater success in the future.'Four Cebuana Lhuillier-backed squads made history when they all qualified for the World Cup organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation this year. These are the Women's Softball World Cup, Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball World Cup, Women's Under-15 World Cup and the Men's Softball World Cup.Japan, meanwhile, edged Chinese Taipei, 1-0, in the final match to claim the title.
