The Philippine Embassy in Canada informed Filipinos there that the suspension overseas voting registration is extended.

In a Facebook post on Friday, May 29, the embassy cited an announcement from the Commission on Elections .

Part of the announcement that the Philippine embassy in Canada said that “hearing for applications for registration as overseas voters is likewise further postponed from May 20, 2020 to July 20, 2020.” The Comelec announcement however also stated that “The said postponement and extension however are still subject to an earlier termination or extension as conditions so warrant.”

Overseas voting has been crucial in determining national level officials in recent elections, although the number of voters abroad is small compared to the number of voters in the Philippines.
