– The Philippine Coast Guard here is under fire for allowing the entry of non-residents at a port in Dumangas town, Iloilo province, the despite travel restrictions imposed due to the threat posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 .“The Coast Guard has to explain why they were able to enter Iloilo,” said Mayor Ronaldo Golez of Dumangas town.

This was after six persons from neighboring Capiz province were reportedly able to enter Dumangas Port late Wednesday night. Of the six, three were overseas Filipino workers who had travel history from countries with COVID-19 cases. They were on-board two different roll-on, roll-off vessels, which both came from Bacolod City in Negros Island.Golez disclosed that Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. wants the PCG to know that it should not happen again and border restrictions should be fully implemented.

Meanwhile, the Iloilo Provincial Health Office is coordinating with the Capiz Provincial Health Office in monitoring the three OFWs who should undergo mandatory 14-day quarantine.
