MANILA, Philippines: Seldom used Jan Roluna recorded a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead University of Perpetual Help to a 96-91 victory over Mapua in the final four of the NCAA Season 99 junior basketball tournament on Sunday, March 10, at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.

The win catapulted the Las Pinas-based dribblers to the finals for the first time since joining the league in 1984. Roluna, who also collected three steals and two assists, drew support from 6-foot-6 center Lebron Daep who finished with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks.Amiel Acido, the leading contender for this season's Most Valubale Player plum, chipped in 20 points, 6 boards, 5 assists and a steal for the Junior Altas.

Before this season, the best finish for the Junior Altas in the tournament was reaching the semifinals in Season 86 under coach Tonichi Pujante, who leaned on players like Gelo Alolino, Axel Iñigo, Mark Bitoy, Flash Sadiwa and Joel Brito.This time, head coach Joph Celopas is aiming for the championship, no less.But it will not be easy for the Junior Altas because they will be facing the defending champion Letran Squires in the best-of-three titular duel starting on March 16.
