More than 300 families who lost their houses in a fire last week in Tondo, Manila were given grocery packs by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

On Jan. 23, a fire consumed 150 houses on Lico St. in Barangay 210, Tondo, Manila. One resident reportedly perished in the fire.

PCSO General Manager Royina-Marzan Garma said the grocery packs were given to 330 families or 1, 520 individuals in the barangay on Monday. The relief goods were placed inside eco bags and distributed by PCSO staff.“We want our kababayans in dire need of help to always feel that they have a government that they could rely on, that, PCSO is here to aid them,” she said in a statement.

Garma also urged the public to continue patronizing their lotto products as a huge portion of the agency’s revenue goes to charity. “I am appealing to the public to please patronize our products, because we are mainly a charity agency. We need your help to give assistance to our kababayans,” she said.

“Whenever you purchase a lotto ticket, think of it as if you are giving money to charity, with a chance of becoming a millionaire.”
