PCSO donates 40 ambulances to LGUs, gov’t institutions, NGOs

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) donated 40 new ambulances to local government units (LGUs), other government institutions, and non-government organizations (NGOs) in far-flung areas of the country.

On Friday, PCSO General Manager Royina Marzan-Garma led the turnover ceremony of the emergency vehicles at the PCSO Satellite Office in San Marcelino, Manila.PCSO said the ambulances are Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs), which are equipped with stretchers and first aid kits such as blood pressure apparatuses.

Garma said PCSO wants patients from various LGUs across the country to benefit from the agency’s donation.“These ambulances will help in intensifying emergency medical response, and transport of patients to medical facilities, especially those from geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas,” the general manager said.

According to PCSO, the 40 Nissan NV350 ambulances cost around P 63.4 million or P1, 585, 063 per unit.Garma vowed “PCSO will not waver from its commitment of providing efficient health services to the Filipino people, especially those who have little resources to spend for their health care.”

“We want the people to feel that they have a government that they can rely on. First and foremost, we are a charity agency tasked to help our underprivileged countrymen, especially those living in far-flung areas in the country,” she said in a statement.
