An investigation over an alleged bribery incident involving a Philippine Coast Guard personnel, who reportedly allowed a man to leave the Batangas Port and cross going to Oriental Mindoro despite the enhanced community quarantine, has been launched.

The Philippine Coast Guard said Saturday that it was already looking into the report involving one of its men for letting an individual cross Batangas Port checkpoint to Oriental Mindoro after receiving P7,000.

“The allegation was plain. No further details were mentioned, besides the amount of money that was allegedly given to a Coast Guard personnel who facilitated the illegal passing at the security checkpoint,” Tuvilla said. “There are layers of security measures and thermal scanning conducted, even outside the port facility up to the marshaling station for the queuing of cargoes. Once cargo personnel or truck drivers come near the loading ramps, they are also asked to step down for physical accounting. PCG K9 teams also conduct routine inspections on vehicles and cargoes inside the port,” Tuvilla said.

While waiting for the affidavit of the involved individual, the PCG Sub-Station in Batangas said it will continue its internal investigation to acquire substantial information about the incident.
