In a statement, PCG said the order is a preventive measure meant to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 , which has infected 4,076 individuals in the Philippines as of this posting,, it is only fitting to prohibit passengers and sea vessels from sailing to prevent the virus from spreading to other parts of the country.

PCG made the advisory to debunk unverified and unofficial reports alleging sea travel in Visayas, particularly in Cebu and Bohol, resumes during the Holy Week. “Passengers and crew members of watercrafts navigating in Visayas are also instructed to strictly observe social distancing,” PCG said.
