THE Philippine Competition Commission has found reasonable grounds to open a preliminary investigation into the complaints filed by Dito Telecommunity against Globe Telecom and Smart Communications.

As it proceeds with the investigation, the competition watchdog will coordinate and consult with the National Telecommunications Commission and other relevant authorities for regulatory and technical considerations. Tamano said the cases stemmed from the limited capacity that both Smart and Globe provided Dito for interconnectivity. Interconnectivity allows subscribers to call from one operator to another.

Dito sued both Smart and Globe for allegedly violating Section 15b and 15c of the Philippine Competition Act or Republic Act No. 10667.
