To encourage parents to have their children vaccinated against polio, a barangay in Pasig City distributed grocery packs to the first 100 families who had their children vaccinated last October 14.

Chairman Raymond Lising of Barangay San Antonio in Pasig City helps administer oral polio vaccine on October 14.

The barangay chairman said, in a press release Sunday, that the grocery packs will be given before the month ends. “We already have a list of all those who have received the vaccines. Somewhat like an attendance to keep track on the recipients,” he said. According to the World Health Organization , polio or poliomyelitis is a highly infectious disease caused by wild poliovirus that has three types: type 1, 2, and 3.

“I extend my sincerest gratitude to all the donors for making this program memorable especially to the children. Huwag po sana kayong magsasawa sa pagtulong sa ating komunidad lalung-lalo na para sa mga bata,” Lising said.
