Pasay gov’t to join Earth Hour observance on March 25

Rubiano said that turning the lights off for one hour is a symbolic gesture that shows commitment to reduce the effect of climate change and protect nature and Mother Earth.

She is encouraging businesses, households, and communities to turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Earth Hour event was first organized by the World Wildlife Fund in 2007 at Sydney, Australia. Since then, it is annually celebrated every last Saturday of March.Rubiano said the observance of Earth Hour is in line with the local government's active programs in protecting and preserving the environment.
