AN official of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced the temporary closure of parts of Pasay and Paranaque to pave the way for the improvement of the drainage system in the affected areas.

In a statement on Thursday, DPWH's South Manila District Engineering Office said the Andrews Avenue at Newport 10th Street, and the Pasay City and Parañaque City Baclaran boundary will be closed from March 24 to Nov. 24, 2023.The culvert construction is scheduled daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.DPWH Regional Director Loreta Malaluan, and South Manila District Engineer Mikunug Macud said the improvements seek to resolve the problem of perennial flooding in surrounding areas.

'In order to lessen the impact of the construction works to traffic in the area, the DPWH-SMDEO will be operating in the allotted window time only in coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority,' the department's statement read.Moderate to heavy traffic is expected during the construction period.Motorists coming from Edsa and heading to Andrews Avenue may go to Don Carlos Revilla St, then to Sampaguita Street and BAC 3rd Dr. St.
