Panelo recently bared that Leachon had applied for the post of Secretary of Department of Health in the early part of the Duterte presidency. He made the revelation after expressing dismay with Leachon’s supposed attempt to sow distrust in the government’s vaccination program. A health reform advocate, Leachon briefly served as an adviser of the government task force battling the coronavirus pandemic last year. The local doctor was removed from his post last June after the President was not pleased with his criticisms about the health department’s response.
Panelo then advised Leachon to better shut up about the matter or possibly risk embarrassment. He threatened to reveal more details about Leachon’s action shortly after he sent his application for the DOH post to the Palace.
