Two nursing attendants at Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital in San Fernando City, Pampanga, who were photographed taking a quick rest while “drenched in sweat under their PPEs,” recently drew admiration and respect from Filipinos online.
Third-year resident doctor Kaydee Magsino-Santiago shared on Facebook the photo of the nurses, Ronnie and Jazzel, taken at 1 a.m. on April 18. Magsino-Santiago described them as “unsung heroes” for their commitment during this time of the pandemic.“Caught our Nursing attendants at 1 AM taking a quick rest and I am not even sure if it really was a rest. Took them only minutes, got back to work with no sleep, drenched in sweat under their PPEs,” she observed.
Magsino-Santiago said her colleagues not only perform medical tasks such as monitoring the patients, checking their oxygen tanks and changing their diapers; they also clean and disinfect rooms.
