MALACAÑANG ordered the suspension of classes and government work in Metro Manila today, Friday due to heavy rains and floods brought by heavy monsoon rains.

The order is contained in Memorandum Circular 30 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and issued on Thursday.

The same circular said, however, that 'agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness and response to disasters and calamities, and the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.'It said the suspension of work for private companies and offices, meanwhile, shall be at the discretion of their respective heads.
