Palace: Gov't can tap ABS-CBN for distance learning if allowed to broadcast anew

MANILA- Shuttered ABS-CBN Corp can be tapped for the government's push for distance learning if the media giant is issued a fresh broadcast license and goes back on air when the new school year begins in August, Malacañang said Thursday.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said all private media companies, including ABS-CBN, can be tapped to help in the education efforts of the government as the coronavirus crisis persists."If ABS-CBN can come back on the air, I'm sure, as a way of showing their commitment to the Filipino people, that they will allow their broadcast to be used for educational purposes," he said.

The Philippines' largest media network has created a team "that would focus solely on how to use our media assets for education and child development," ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak told the Senate Committee on Public Services earlier this month. ABS-CBN went off-air on May 5 after the National Telecommunications Commission ordered it to "cease and desist" from broadcasting. The company's franchise expired on May 4.

Pinapanood na po ng mga apo ko ang Knowledge Channel ang laking tulong. Kung PTV4 lang hindi yan nakakarating sa inabot ng ABS-CBN.

Matagal na nila yang ginagawa. Marami akong natutunan noon da Sineskwela, Math-inik, Hirayamanawari, Bayani, Atbp. Tpos meron din cla Knowledge Channel dba.

Good idea. DepEd should make it one of the rules for the tv networks to show educational programs.
