MANILA— Malacañang on Friday released amended guidelines in the pilot implementation of Alert Level 4 in Metro Manila, which authorities said would be helpful should current restrictions be extended next month.
Palace Spokesperson Harry Roque said some of the amendments would take effect starting Oct. 1 should Metro Manila remain under Alert Level 4. The Philippines is battling a new wave of COVID-19 infections due to the community transmission of the more virulent Delta variant, but new cases have fallen to below the 20,000-mark in the past 5 days, data showed.
