The low pressure area may bring scattered rain showers over Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 15.PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren said the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression and will most likely dissipate within 24 hours.

However, for now, she said the weather disturbance may bring cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rain showers and thunderstorms over Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms and the easterly winds.

PAGASA warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms. The State weather bureau has not issued any gale warning thus fisherfolk and seafarers are safe to sail.
