The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ( Pagasa ) announced on Friday, March 22, 2024, the end of the northeast monsoon, marking the start of the " Philippine Summer ." Pagasa director Dr. Nathaniel Servando stated in a press briefing that they expect warmer and drier days in the coming weeks and months. Due to the ongoing El Niño effect, higher temperatures and dryer conditions are anticipated in the months of April and May .
Ana Liza Solis, head of Pagasa's Climatology and Agrometeorology Division, mentioned that the summer months could be some of the hottest, reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius, especially in Cagayan Valley
