Pacquiao on Tuesday said he stands with the Supreme Court en banc in its call for an end to the systematic assault on the country’s justice system and the entire legal profession.‘’I support the High Tribunal’s call for action on the killings and harassments against judges and lawyers,’’ he added.
Pacquiao stressed that he is against any policy that tramples on the basic principle of human rights which is the right to counsel. ‘’Our lawyers must be free and even duty-bound to represent those accused of violating the law,’’ he pointed out. ‘’Lawyers should not be suspected, discriminated against, faulted, red-tagged, or attacked in performing their sworn duties,’’ he said.
