The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) said they are conducting a lifestyle check on five cabinet members of President Duterte.

At the National Press Club of the Philippines weekly “Report to the Nation” media forum, PACC Commissioner lawyer Manny Luna said Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat, Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones, and Transportation Secretary Arturo Tugade voluntary submitted themselves to a lifestyle check. He added that his men will also undergo a lifestyle check to show they are not involved in any corruption.

Signing on behalf of the NPC, one of the country’s oldest and biggest organizations of active members of the press, was its president Rolly ‘Lakay’ Gonzalo, while the PACC was represented Luna, with club officers as witnesses. Gonzalo, for his part, said the MOA signing with the executive department’s main anti-corruption watchdog is a “clear message” that the NPC has regained the credibility that was tarnished by the abuses and transgressions of its former officials.

“This MOA is the fruit of the serious reform efforts that our leadership has undertaken consistently over the years, resulting in the NPC regaining the trust and confidence not only of our peers in the media community, but more importantly, by other organizations such as the PACC.

The assistance shall come by way of providing the commission with documents and information to enhance the campaign for transparency and accountability in government official acts, transactions, or decisions.
