– Security forces uprooted and burned on Monday some 30,000 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated value of P6 million from a plantation in a mountain village in Tampakan, South Cotabato.
Captain Joseph Villanueva, Tampakan police chief, said policemen, soldiers, and operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency swopped down on sitio Alyang, Barangay Danlag, Tampakan and uncovered the marijuana plantation which is located in the tri-boundary of Tampakan, Columbio, Sultan Kudarat and Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.
He said the raiding lawmen uprooted some 30, 000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P6 million from the plantation believed maintained by one Gugwelin Mcondon who managed to escape before the lawmen arrived in the area. He said the raiding team burned the seized marijuana plants in the area and brought some 50 marijuana hills to the police station as exhibit in the filing of a criminal complaint against the suspect.
PDEA regional chief Naravy Duquitan said charges for cultivating marijuana were filed against Macondon who is now the subject of a manhunt operation.
