GENERAL SANTOS CITY- Police authorities raided a marijuana plantation with an estimated value of P1 million in a hinterland village in Tampakan, South Cotabato over the weekend.

PLt.Col. Celestino Daniel, Provincial Mobile Force Company commander, said police operatives swooped down on sitio Datal Biao in Barangay Danlag, Tampakan and uprooted some 2,000 fully grown marijuana plants planted in a mountainous area of the village predominantly inhabited by B’laan tribesmen.

The seizure of the marijuana plantation came after Danlag Barangay Councilor Ermelindo Macaranas reported to the police the existence of a marijuana plantation in a remote and uninhabited area of the barangay.The raiding team burned the seized marijuana plants in the area which can only be reached by walking while some were brought to Tampakan police station for examination.
