Manila Veterinary Inspection shows the 6 tons of frozen pork confiscated from a building in Abad Santos in Manila on Tuesday. The pork belly is said to be imported from Germany and sold online.
A total of 302 boxes of imported pork belly from Germany were seized from the residence of a certain Jonabel Jalimao Factor along Jose Abad Santos Avenue at around 10:00 a.m., said VIB Director Nick Santos. Santos said Factor has a cold storage inside his house where the 6,040 kilos of smuggled products were located.
Bureau of Permits Director Levi Facundo also said that Facundo’s business, Gou Ren Han food products, has no record in the City of Manila. “Wala ‘yung name na yan. Walang record sa name na Gou Ren Han or the name of wife,” Facundo said. “Even home businesses should get a permit.”
