Overseas Filipinos with COVID19 now 6,140; deaths near 500

MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs said Saturday 12 more Filipinos abroad caught COVID-19, raising the total tally of overseas infections among Filipino nationals to 6,140.

The respiratory illness also killed 12 more overseas Filipinos, bringing the death toll to 495, the agency said in its latest bulletin.“The DFA continues to keep track of the status of Filipinos abroad and work to safely repatriate more of our stranded nationals home as we keep fighting against this pandemic,” it said in a statement.

DFA reports 12 new confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad, 3 new recoveries in the Americas and Asia and the Pacific, and 12 new deaths in the Middle East pic.twitter.com/urrAdPksFkTo date, some 2,794 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, broken down as follows by region: 80 in the Asia Pacific Region, 538 in Europe, 2,018 in the Middle East and Africa and 158 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, COVID-19 has so far sickened 28,459 people, with 1,130 fatalities and 7,378 recoveries.
