The Department of Health said that more than 2,000 of the country’s confirmed coronavirus disease cases were from repatriated overseas Filipinos.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that as of June 30, there are 92,967 overseas Filipinos who returned to the country. Out of the figure, 2,326 individuals have tested positive for the dreaded disease, said Vergeire. This is six percent of the country’s 38,511 cases. Among the confirmed COVID-19 returning overseas Filipinos, 588 are currently admitted in medical facilities; 1,690 have recovered; and one died, based on the DOH latest Situationer report.
As of July 1, the nation’s cumulative total number of COVID-19 cases is at 38,511, including 10,438 recoveries, and 1,270 deaths.
