The Ilocos region has so far administered over six million COVID-19 vaccine doses. latest data from the Department of Health showed on Friday. | jmichaelmgsINQ /PDI

The region needs to inoculate the 70 percent of the 4.1 million target eligible population to achieve herd immunity againstCOVID-19, according to Dr. Rheuel Bobis, COVID-19 focal person of the DOH in the Ilocos region.

Among the regions in the country, Ilocos placed in the top three areas which had the highest number of vaccine doses administered, said Bobis. Ilocos Norte had the highest vaccination coverage for both fully and partially vaccinated individuals at 74.24 percent and 63.37 percent, respectively of its target population, Bobis said.
