MANILA — More than 500 health workers have contracted coronavirus disease , data showed, as the Philippines grappled with the pandemic.
The 540 new confirmed COVID-19 cases among healthcare workers from Aug. 9-15 is the second highest announced by DOH in a single week since April 28, when the agency started regularly publishing The highest increase since the DOH started publishing the data was 565 additional cases from July 26 to August 1.
As of August 17, the total number of COVID-19 cases reached 6,119, based on the daily DOH situationer report.Of the 6,119, 5,619 health workers have already recovered. The number of deaths remained at 39.
This just shows that healthcare workers are significantly more prone to contracting the disease despite the use of full PPE’s
