More than 21,000 returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have been transported back to their home provinces after being stranded in quarantine facilities in Metro Manila where they underwent 14-day quarantine upon their arrival in the country.

As of Wednesday, June 3, a total of 21,424 repatriated OFWs have gone back home, the Department of Transportation said Thursday.

The returning Filipinos were transported back to their homes under the “Hatid Probinsya para sa mga OFWs” Program, a joint initiative of various government agencies, mostly in the transportation and maritime sector. “Today, there are no confirmed positive COVID-19 case in the quarantine facilities and the 84 Filipinos remain healthy and show no signs or symptoms of the virus,” the Coast Guard added.

“With this, all repatriates from the two said quarantine ships have been transferred to the Eva Macapagal Terminal,” the organization said.
