Ombudsman prohibits sexist remarks and homophobic slurs

The Office of the Ombudsman has tightened its belt against sexual harassment cases within its office, and has prohibited its employees from making sexist remarks and homophobic slurs – even in their personal social media accounts.

Not only did the order cover work-related sexual harassment, but it also sought to provide a safe environment for its employees and clients even outside of the office. With the use of modern technology, sexual predators have now terrorized people by incessantly calling them, cyberstalking, leaving unwanted messages, and uploading and sharing items online without the victim’s consent.

Should the sexual predator be found guilty after investigation, preventive suspension or dismissal may be implemented against him or her. For light offenses, a reprimand will be the first penalty, followed by a fine or suspension not exceeding 30 days.
