The number of active cases daily in Quezon province has dropped to the lowest, even as two more coronavirus disease patients died, authorities reported Tuesday. | dtmallarijrINQ

The IPHO records also indicated a continued downward trend of new COVID-19 cases in the province, with seven new patients on Tuesday. A total of 220 fresh cases have been recorded since Feb. 1.The IPHO disclosed that two virus carriers died in Lucena City, the capital of the province.

The two new deaths bring the total number of fatalities in the province to 243, with at least 19 recorded in February. Another 36 patients died from the virus in January. The total COVID-19 fatalities in this city have reached 57, the highest mortality rate among all localities in the province.As of Tuesday, Lucena logged 1,556 COVID-19 cases with the addition of only one new case and 1,464 recoveries.Quezon, still under modified general community quarantine status, has logged 7,134 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic was declared in March last year, but at least 6,679 have recovered.
