A person driving a car alone does not have to wear a face mask since he or she cannot infect anyone else, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Tuesday.

Nograles, co-chair of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases , clarified that the driver may remove the protective gear when alone in the car.

The Palace official however appealed to the public to continue to observe minimum public health standards to curb the spread of the coronavirus. Back in May, the Land Transportation Office issued a memorandum on the sanitary requirements for public and private vehicles such as the mandatory wearing of face masks at all times.
