No coup vs Speaker Cayetano, solon says

tv MANILA - There is no plot to unseat House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, a lawmaker said Wednesday as the House leader claimed issues on the national budget and ABS-CBN franchise are being used to oust him."That’s the first time I hear about this. There is strictly no--not that I know of--there is no coup to unseat the Speaker. Everybody knows there is an agreement and it is being respected," he told ANC's Early Edition.

Del Mar was referring to the term-sharing deal between Cayetano and Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco, where the former would serve for 15 months followed by the latter for 21 months. Buhay Party-List Rep. Lito Atienza earlier slammed Cayetano for failing to set a hearing for 11 bills seeking to renew the ABS-CBN franchise despite a call from Malacañang to push through with the hearing.

Cayetano has said he wants all sides to be heard when the Lower House starts hearings on the ABS-CBN franchise. He told reporters: "Ang panawagan sa pag-resign ay ginagawa sa floor... The moment na ayaw na ako ng majority ng mga kongresista, aalis ako."
