NJEB Construction won Game 1, 68-65, over the ARQ Builders./ Contributed, DBL
CEBU CITY, Philippines – NJEB Construction took a step closer towards winning the championship in the 2019 Duterte Basketball League after they slipped past the ARQ Builders, 68-65, in Game 1 of the best-of-three finals on Sunday night, August 11, 2019, at the Capitol Parish Gym. Romar Gonzaga proved to be too much of a headache for the Builders to handle as he scored 19 points to lead NJEB to within a win away from hoisting the trophy. Warren Cañete backed Gonzaga up with an all-around performance of 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal.
The loss laid to waste the huge offensive outburst of ARQ’s Christopher Obeso, who had 34 points and seven boards.
