Ang wika ay isang makapangyarihang salik na siyang nagbubuklod sa isang nasyon. Partikular na sa kung paano nagkakaroon ng diskusyon na siyang nagbubunga ng iba’t ibang bagay tulad ng pagbabago at pagkakaisa.
Bagaman lahat tayo ay Pilipino ay tila nagkakaroon ng dibisyon sa tuwing mayroong nagtatanong kung saang probinsya nagmumula ang taong nakakasalamuha natin. Maaring ginagawa natin ito upang makahanap ng pakiramdam ng pagkakapareho mula sa ating kausap at magkaroon ng punto ng kaisahan. Ngunit sa ibang pagkakataon ay nagiging tanong ito dahil sa kakaibang intonasyon ng pananalita ng isang tao.
Kung lubos na bibigyang pansin, napakahalaga ng wika sa buhay ng maraming Pilipino. Hindi lamang ito instrumento ng pagpapahayag ng sarili o ng pagkikipag-usap ngunit isa ring tanda ng pagkakakilankilan at ng mapagpalaya nating pagkakaiba. Kung kaya naman hindi na dapat na nanaig ang pagkakaroon ng diskriminasyon o mababang pagtingin sa mga kababayan nating hindi maalam at bihasa sa pagtatagalog, lalo na rin sa Ingles dahil hindi lang ito ang wikang mayroon ang Pilipinas.
