A new low-pressure area has formed within the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

“Wala pa itong epekto sa kahit anong bahagi ng bansa subalit hindi natin niru-rule out na ito’y maging ganap na tropical depression or bagyo sa susunod na dalawang araw ,” Gile said in a public weather forecast at 4 p.m.Incidentally, the LPA which exited the PAR yesterday has turned into a cyclone. It is moving toward the vicinity of Southern China and Northern Vietnam, with wind speed of up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center.

While it obviously has no direct effect on the Philippines, the cyclone has been pulling up the Southwest Monsoon or “Habagat,” which has been causing scattered rains in different parts of the country the past few days, Gile said.
