Roel Degamo died from wounds he sustained from the shooting incident that transpired at his residence on Saturday morning, his family has confirmed.In a Facebook post, Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo said her husband was pronounced dead at 11:41 a.m., saying, 'The governor does not deserve that kind of death.'She said the governor was serving his constituents on a Saturday, along with his department heads when he was gunned down by still unidentified assailants.
The governor and other victims were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital.Department of the Interior and Local Government Benjamin 'Benhur' Abalos Jr. condemned in the strongest possible terms the 'senseless assassination' of Gov. Degamo.Abalos said he has given a directive to the Philippine National Police to conduct hot pursuit operations to immediately apprehend the suspects responsible for this crime.
