Official data show the typhoon victims were from 261 barangay in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Soccsksargen.
The eye of the typhoon was last spotted over the coastal waters of Calayan, Cagayan, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration . It said Egay maintained its maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 240 kph. Signal No. 4 is still up over the northern portion of Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Apayao, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
Areas under Signal No. 1 are Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, the rest of Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, the northern portion of Batangas, the northern and central portion of Quezon, including Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, the northern portion of Camarines Sur, and the northern portion of Catanduanes.
In Metro Manila, the convergence of winds from Egay and the southwest monsoon are causing gusty winds, which along with rains will still be experienced in the capital region on Wednesday, PAGASA weather forecaster Ana Clauren-Jorda told CNN Philippines.
