The NBA is helping out one of the most fanatical basketball nations in the world off the court through its collaboration with Smart’s flagship education program for the Philippines, School-in-a-Bag.

Through NBA Cares, the School-in-a-Bag program will distribute pocket WiFi devices, laptops, and tablets to 20 schools across 16 cities and provinces in the country, boosting a struggling education system currently last in the world to ease into face-to-face classes.

“Education in the Philippines has changed dramatically as schools across the country continue engaging with students remotely,” said NBA Asia managing director Scott Levy in a virtual ceremony. The School-in-a-Bag program affirms the commitment to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, specifically by providing access to quality education in the Philippines.
