Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown, who has missed the last two games due to an illness and infection, won't make trip to Cleveland for Tuesday's matchup with the Cavaliers, head coach Brad Stevens announced Monday.
Stevens said Brown could possibly rejoin the team for the road trip that includes stops at the Charlotte Hornets onThursday and San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. Brown, 23, is averaging 17.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists a game in his fourth season with the Celtics after they made him a first-round pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. In October, Brown agreed to a four-year, $115 million contract extension."We did contact today and it didn't bother me at all," Kanter, a 6-foot-11 center, told reporters after the Monday morning practice. "So yeah. I'm ready.
Kanter has played in only the season opener, sustaining a left knee contusion while totaling 12 points and six rebounds in 25 minutes as the Celtics fell to the Philadelphia 76ers 107-93. The club has since reeled off four straight victories heading into Tuesday's game. "Obviously, he hasn't played since the first game, so we'll bring him back slowly when he's available," Stevens said. "But certainly he brings a lot to the table for us."
