Businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles has asked the Supreme Court (SC) to stop the Sandiganbayan from proceeding with the P183-million plunder case filed against her and former Sen. Jose Ejercito “Jinggoy” Estrada Jr.

In a petition, Napoles challenged before the SC the Sandiganbayan’s June 13, 2019 and Sept. 9, 2019 resolutions which denied her motion for demurrer to evidence or a motion to dismiss the case based on alleged weak evidence presented by the prosecution.

They were accused of allegedly pocketing P183,793,750 from Estrada’s Priority Development Assistance Fund by endorsing Napoles’ fake non-government organizations in 2004. She said the prosecution, in the proceedings before the Sandiganbayan, failed to prove receipt and personal benefit by Estrada, which is an essential element of the crime of plunder.
