The MIAA temporarily suspended operations at the Naia due to a red lightning advisory. | zacariansINQ

According to the MIAA, its Airport Ground Operations and Safety Division issued a Lightning Red Alert at 1:53 p.m.“Flight and ground operations at the NAIA are suspended. The alert is a safety measure taken to prevent untoward incidents from happening when lightning is prevalent in the immediate area and may endanger personnel, passengers and even flight operations,” MIAA said.

The state weather bureau’s earlier forecast for Wednesday indicated partly cloudy skies in Metro Manila with chances of thunderstorms due to the effects of the southwest monsoon, locally known as the “habagat.”
