MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard said Tuesday that more women are joining its 22,000-strong force. “From 15 percent in 2001, women compose 20 percent of our total strength today,” PCG Aviation Force Commander Capt. Christine Pauline Diciano said during her speech at Monday’s flag ceremony.According to her, women personnel now take strides in non-traditional roles in law enforcement, environmental protection, intelligence and security operations, search and rescue, safety, cooperative arrangements, adjudications, community services, and humanitarian efforts at PCG.

“With a strong leadership before us, I know that we can ensure platforms that are participatory, empowering, equitable, and sustainable across all levels,” she also said.
